Throughout the city, people gathered on corners, in parks, at hospitals - where in many cases mobile morgues were being used due to the overwhelming death count - and from their windows to clap, bang pans and shout THANK YOU! to the essential workers. New York City is such a fashion hub. So, it only made sense when mask wearing began, the population would make it beautiful. All images were shot in the first couple months of the pandemic in Spring, 2020 in downtown Manhattan.

With the killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota tipping the scales for social justice, protests happened worldwide in the spring and summer of 2020. These files were all shot in both downtown and midtown Manhattan.
Shoot occurred at dancers' prompting one afternoon in the West Village of Manhattan when our world felt like it had shut down. McKenzie who is from The Dance Theater of Harlem is my friend and part of my ongoing project www.tribesnyc.com. All files shot on 27 April 2020.
